Every culture has music. We enjoy music. We also have our own special kind of music that we like. Music is very personal. Not all of us like all music. So pick the music you like, enjoy, and listen. More than that pick a music that you like that will enhance your sense of worshipping God. Knowing and doing the will of God starts with and through music.
Music played very important role in the lives of many servants of God. David lived in it. Major portion of the psalms are songs written by David during his worship time with God alone.
Music is one of the keys to learn knowing and doing the will of God. Music sets a mood. People tend to act differently to different music. Music can aggravate physical violence, aggravate sexual activates, as well as tune your heart to the heart of God.
The real key to knowing and doing the will of God is to be alone listening to music that brings the presence of God to you. In that emotional experience, you can draw near to God. Emotions bring us closer to God faster than the mind and reason. God created emotions and feelings. You can use it for evil or for God.
I use it to spend time singing and listening to hymns of old that I love. I identify myself with the words of the hymn and mean it when I sing. Most of are not very articulate in expressing our feeling, emotions and thoughts in words. So why struggle to find words, if you can identify some songs that you like, love, and sing as your own.
God draws near when you are alone with Him.
Usually God is not in a group singing. In a group, you tend to impress others. We are human and long for acceptance. In order for that, we may pretend and act as though we are singing and drawing near to God.However, if you alone and shut your door, sing and pray, God appears to you. This is the sum of all that I teach as Knowing and doing the will of God. Only by being alone can you ever come to know God. Music can aid that experience, make that time very enjoyable and memorable.
God created music, in heaven, we are going to be submerged in music that we have never heard before. Start the experience of spending time alone with God (alone means no body is in that room with you) and you will grow spiritually. Remember mixing reading the Bible, again all alone and singing and praying in the spirit, again all alone will enhance the experience of knowing and doing the will of God, the most important time of our day
